Can I make money drawing colorful, cartoony, childish illustrations like flowers, cute animals, sweets,, etc?
ladybug21 asked:
Should I just start drawing lots of illustrations on my computer until I have something to show to potential clients ? Who can I sell to? Can I make a career out of this?

Yes, you can make a career of of this. You should draw as much as possible. Then go to college and major in the field to hone your skills. You can sell your art to companies for ads.

Try making a hobby of it first.
My soon-to-be ex-husband is an artist and a very, very good one, but in 18 years of marriage, he’s never been able to make a living at it, and refuses to do or learn to do anything else.

Yes you can make a career of being an illustrator. Build up your portfolio then start showing them around. Send samples to publisher’s of childrens books and any other place that produces products for kids, companies that make stickers etc. Also look into clip art and stock illustration. You might also look into companies that produce wallpapers or fabric design as they may be willing to pay for some usage.
However, in illustration you don’t often get to choose what you are illustrating usually you get work illustrating others stories or work.
You can try posting work on Portfolios.com there are also annuals like the Directory of Illustration you can buy pages to promote your work. Finally I would advise getting a copy of the Graphic Artists Guild Handbook as it is a valuable resource for illustrator and designers.
